Round 2 PBDDL Sooper Hero Posts

February 29th
2008

Lots of posts coming today. One post I’ve been preparing all week is the round up of all the posts from the Sooper Heroes who received PBDDL. There’s a collage of post pics below, but I also added a new feature to Blake Makes last week.

Say It On Blake Makes is way for me to collect blog posts and stories from my Sooper community. If you’ve posted about PBDDL or anything else you’d like to share, Say It On Blake Makes (and I’ll post it here once a week)! Use the little brown ad on the right to submit stories.

Even without drawing attention to it, we had 3 people Say It this week:

  1. Kylee says, “(I tried the PBDDL) May I be one of the first to use, and review the PBDDL? I have tasted it (right out of the jar on the way back from the mailbox), and used it in something….A PBDDL Banana smoothie. Out of this world good….
  2. Erica says, “(PBDDL Chocolate Banana Rolls) Here’s my first tasty experiment with the (already) very tasty PBDDL!”
  3. Michelle says, “(Blake Makes - Delivered!) I was so excited to get my mail yesterday and see a little package with the “Blake Makes” label on it. My dulce de leche had arrived! I honestly love nothing more than finding fun packages at my doorstep. It’s always a pleasant surprise and pick-me-up! If you don’t know who Blake is or what he does, be sure to check out Blake Makes! In a nut shell, Blake runs an awesome food blog and makes his own dulce de leche, which he periodically gives away to members of his blog, known as Sooper Heroes (first come, first serve!).”

  1. Sooper Jamie
  2. Sooper Caitlin
  3. Sooper Nikki
  4. Sooper Danielle
  5. Sooper Melissa
  6. Sooper Erica
  7. Sooper Michelle
  8. Sooper Laurie
  9. Sooper Amy

Giveaway Teaser: Sucre’ (Updated)

February 27th
2008

UPDATE: This is just the teaser post for the Sucre’ giveaway next Tuesday, March 4 at 8pm CST. I may actually be modifying the giveaway since there are so many people interested, and we have so few boxes to give away. I think I’m going to do a lottery. I’ll post more soon. But for everyone who thinks they’ve missed the Sucre’ giveaway, you haven’t. It hasn’t happened, yet. :)

Alrighty. Here we go again, another amazing giveaway. This time, from Sucre’, a sweet shop on Magazine Street here in New Orleans. And this time, FREE CHOCOLATE!

This is a very limited giveaway, so you’ll have to be quick (I’m trying to get more boxes from them).

You’ll see what’s inside the box next Tuesday at 8pm CST (or now if you know where to look).

Let me just say it’s filled with the best chocolate you’ve ever tasted - 9 pieces!

If you can’t wait until next week, you can buy online now.

UPDATE: Got any ideas for how I can give all you Sooper Heroes more exposure? Let’s all think about it and comment your ideas on this post. Remember, there are no bad (dumb) ideas. You never know when one thing may lead to another. Doing something like this may be a good place to start.

Hello everyone! It’s Friday which for many of you means you’re just a couple of days from getting your PBDDL in the mail! Another Step For Soopz (Updated 2/10)

February 9th
2008

Update 2/10/2008: MAKE SURE TO READ THE COMMENT ON THIS POST WHERE I EXPLAIN A LITTLE MORE ABOUT SOOPZ, BLAKEVILLE AND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO.

I’ll keep this short and sweet (because I’m working on this at 8pm on a Saturday night). We’re taking steps to make Soopz more official, and to organize the community (family) that’s forming around the brand.

If you’re interested in becoming a Sooper Hero, please click here.

Even if you’ve already sent me your information, please go ahead and fill out the form so that I can keep you all together.

Soopz: ‘Erin Cooks’ Peanut Butter Dulce de Leche Peanut Butter Fudge

February 8th
2008

Hello Blake Makers and Sooper Heroes. Man, I’m making new friends all over the place (just read some of the comments on the last 3 posts). One of my newest friends is a little lady named Erin. Why? You ask. Because she made something amazing (drool worthy) with Blake Makes Peanut Butter Dulce de Leche.

Now, she didn’t just make peanut butter fudge. No, she made peanut butter dulce de leche peanut butter fudge.

That takes a bit to type out, but I made a commitment to do so because this stuff looks so (I’m so sorry for this, granny)…but, so effing good!

I can’t wait to get Blakeville (the retail side of all this food blog food) up and running. Her fudge, Shawnda’s brownies and my DDL would be right at home there.

We’ve got more great posts coming from the people that got the good stuff. Plus, there’s another round of DDL going out soon (as soon as I get my shipping boxes). Bottom line, pretty soon, everywhere you turn (online) you’re going to find DDL and Blake Makers and Sooper Heroes.

It’s a good day. It’s going to be a good year (maybe even lifetime).

A special thanks to Erin. Go read her blog, and try to refrain from licking your computer screen.

Like always, stay tuned! bk

Soopz: ‘Foodie Bride’ Makes Dulce de Leche Brownies

February 5th
2008

More people are getting the jars of peanut butter dulce de leche that I mailed out last week. I love to see what y’all are doing with your jars (like Dave). I’m sure most of you are just eating it right out of the jar (like me), but some of you are taking it to a new level.

I sent a jar to Foodie Bride and she made brownies with it. OMG! Check it out!

I’d like to take this moment and say thanks to Foodie Bride (Shawnda). Thanks for your interest. Thanks for making something amazing with something I made. Thanks for blogging about it (and sending your readers to this blog).

This is what I love about blogs. They’re bringing us all closer together. I have about 80 more friends (Sooper Heroes) now than I had just a week ago.

I’ve had close to 100 requests for dulce (in just 5 days!). I wonder how many people I could have gotten into a brick and mortar store in the same time? I doubt 100 and I doubt for as cheaply (blogging’s virtually free).

I’ve spoken to another Sooper Hero, and he’s doing something completely different (but totally him). I won’t tell you what it is until he posts about it, but let me just say that it’s not a dessert. In fact, it’s not sweet at all.

I’ll be posting more updates as more of the first mail out gets blogged about. In the meantime, get ready for round 2. I’ll be working all weekend on another round of PB DDL, plus experimenting with a few more flavors of DDL (banana and marshmallow cream) and making something completely different - Blake Makes Mini Moments.

I’ve got quite a long list of Sooper Heroes amassing, and that’s great! I’m super excited.

I already told you guys that we have our first Sooper Company, and today I got another. Pretty soon, there’s going to be a ton of food going out the door and into your mailboxes.

Get ready because we’re just getting started.

BTW, more info is coming on Soopz and Blakeville. I’m pulling together the content for those pages, and you’ll be able to read it soon by clicking the tabs at the top of this page.

Whew! Stay tuned! bk

Hum. What am I going to do with all these empty jars?

February 4th
2008

Hello Blake Makers and Sooper Heroes. We just got back from our long weekend back home, and when we arrived, a large brown box was waiting to greet us at the front door.

Obviously, inside the box we found about 200 1.5 oz. jars. They are smaller than the first dulce jars, but these are much cuter.

For round two, we’re making another batch of Blake Makes Peanut Butter Dulce de Leche (with a revised recipe), but I’m also going to make something else.

I think I already spilled the beans in a comment, but here are some clues to tempt you:

  1. Give me more.
  2. Campfire.
  3. Layers.

I’m calling my new concoction “Mini Moments.” Give me about a week. ;) bk
